What is Salesforce?

Answer: Salesforce is a cloud-based technology that is used to develop CRM applications. It is an integrated CRM that gives all our departments – including sales, marketing, commerce, and service – a single shared view of every customer.


What is CRM?

Answer: CRM stands for ’Customer Relationship Management. It is used to customer’s contact information like name, address, phone no, as well as keeps the tracking of customer activity like site visits, phone calls, email, and more.

What is an application in Salesforce and how many types of applications we have in Salesforce?

Answer: Combination of all components and contents using by us in one interface is known as application.

There are three types of application in Salesforce:

  1. Standard Applications
  2. Custom Applications
  3. Console Applications


What is an Object in Salesforce?

Answer: In Salesforce an object is like a data table, where we store the data. An object consists of set of fields and we store data against that field.

What are the different types of relationships in Salesforce?

Answer: We have the following relationship in Salesforce:

  1. Lookup Relationship
  2. Master Detail Relationship
  3. External Lookup Relationship


What are the differences between the Lookup and Master-Detail relationship?


Master-Detail Relationship Look up Relationship
It is the parent, child relationship between objects. Look up relationship creates relations between two objects.
If we delete master records then child records are also deleted automatically. If we delete any object’s record then another object’s record is not deleted.
Rollup-summary field is enabling on in case master-detail relationship. Rollup-summary field cannot be created in this relationship.
We can have up to maximum 2 master details on an object We can have up to maximum 40 lookups for on an object.
Master is required field on the child object. The parent is not required in the child record.


What is a Profile in Salesforce?

Answer: Profile control the access to object-level and field-level security among other things like apps, tabs, objects, etc. The profile is a set of permissions of the user, whatever the things a user can do in an organization.

What are the different types of data security levels in Salesforce?

Answer: In Salesforce there are three levels of data security

  • Object Level
  • Field Level
  • Record Level


What are the sharing settings on a record level in Salesforce?

Answer: There are following sharing settings on record level:

  • OWD (Organization wide Default)
  • Roles
  • Sharing Rules
  • Manual Sharing

What are the functions available in the Roll-up Summary Field?

Answer:  Functions of the Roll-Up Summary field are:

  1. COUNT – It calculates the total number of related records.
  2. SUM – It totals the value of selected field.
  3. Max – It displays the highest value.
  4. MIN – It displays the lowest value.


What is Report and Dashboard in Salesforce?

Answer:  Report: Reports give us access to our Salesforce data. We can search and categorized our Salesforce data in almost infinite combinations, and can display it in easy-to-understand formats, and share the resulting insights with others.

Dashboard: Dashboards help us visually understand changing business conditions so we can make decisions based on the real-time data we have gathered with reports. Dashboards are use to measure the impact of their activities and identify trends, sort out quantities.

What are different kinds of reports in Salesforce?

Answer:  Following are the types of report in Salesforce:

  • Tabular Report
  • Summary Report
  • Matrix Report
  • Joined Report


What are the actions available in workflow?

Answer:  There are four actions available in the workflow:

  • Field Update
  • Task
  • Email Alert
  • Outbound Message


Difference between Profile and Permission sets?

Answer:    Permission Sets: Permission sets are use to define the access level of the user. Using permission sets we can grant the additional permissions to users, but we cannot revoke the permissions defined already in the profile.

Profile: Profile is defined for Object-level and field-level security. Using profile we can give permissions to user and also we can restrict the user to access the security level.


What is Field dependency in Salesforce?

Answer: When we make a field is dependent on the other field that is known as field dependency. 

In field dependency we have two categories: 

  • Controlling Filed
  • Dependent Field


What is Page Layout in Salesforce?

Answer: Page layout is used to customize and personalize many things on a given object record page.

  • It controls which fields, a list of related records, and custom links users see.
  • We can customize the order that the fields that appear in the page details.
  • We can make fields visible, read-only, or required.
  • Control which standard and the custom button appear on records and related lists.
  • Control quick actions appear on-page.

What is record type in Salesforce?

Answer: Record types are used to define different business processes, and manage the picklist values and page layouts to different users. 

Using record types you can manage the picklist values and you can assign multiple layouts to the users and profiles.


What is Junction Object in Salesforce?

Answer: To achieve many to many relationships between two objects we create a third custom object and connect that third object in MDR with two other objects so that the third custom object is known as a junction object.

Can we change the lookup to a master-detail relationship and vice versa?

Answer: Yes, we can change from lookup to master-detail relationship, and also we can change from master to lookup relationship.

Before changing the lookup to the master-detail relationship we have to check is there any existing record present or not without having parent field value.
Before changing the master-detail to lookup the relationship we have to check is there any roll-up summary field on the parent record or not.
