Networking Jobs After CCNA Certification

Getting your CCNA certification is a major achievement if you are starting a career in networking. But CCNA should not be considered the final destination—it should be the foundation of your networking career. 

Many freshers make the same mistake: 


CCNA → Upload Resume → Apply for Jobs → Wait for Calls  

A better approach is: 

CCNA → Practical Labs → Troubleshooting → Tools → Security → Cloud → Projects → Resume → Job Applications → Interview → First Networking Job  

1. What Does CCNA Give You? 

The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) validates fundamental networking knowledge. 

The current CCNA is based on Cisco's 200-301 CCNA exam and covers major areas such as:

TCP three-way handshake, TCP retransmissions, TCP reset, DNS failures, Packet loss

Understanding packet-level communication can make troubleshooting much easier. 

9. Learn Network Monitoring

You don't need to master every platform. Choose one monitoring tool and learn the underlying concepts properly. 10. Learn Ticketing and ITIL Concepts 

NOC engineers don't only configure network devices. They also work with tickets and incidents. 

Understand: Incident, Problem, Change, Service request, SLA, Priority, Severity, Escalation, Incident lifecycle, Change management.

Exact classifications vary between companies, but understanding the concepts will help during NOC interviews. 

11. Learn Basic Linux 

Networking and Linux increasingly overlap. You don't need to become a Linux administrator, but you should understand basic networking commands.

ip addr | ip route | ping | traceroute | ss | netstat | nslookup | dig | curl | wget | ssh | scp | tcpdump

You should be able to: Check an IP address, Check routing, Test connectivity, Troubleshoot DNS, Connect through SSH, Examine network connections, Read basic logs. 

Linux skills are especially useful for infrastructure and cloud networking positions. 

12. Learn Firewall Technology 

Modern network engineers need basic security knowledge. Learn:
