Backend Developer (API Specialist)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with strong experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable APIs and backend systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in building RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, managing data flow, and integrating backend services to deliver high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain secure, efficient, and reusable backend services and APIs.
 

Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and deliver API contracts.
 

Optimize database queries and ensure system scalability and reliability.
 

Implement authentication, authorization, and data validation mechanisms for APIs.
 

Troubleshoot and debug production issues in a timely manner.
 

Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
 

Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration processes.
 

Stay updated with emerging backend technologies and frameworks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
 

Proven experience (3+ years) as a Backend Developer or similar role.
 

Strong hands-on experience with at least one backend framework (e.g., Node.js/Express, Python/Django/FastAPI, Java/Spring Boot, or .NET Core).
 

Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
 

Proficient in database design and management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB).
 

Strong understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, GitLab).
 

Familiarity with containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
 

Knowledge of unit testing, API documentation tools (Swagger/Postman), and security best practices.
